My friend Shivani and I have partnered up to start a new publication on Substack. Our project revolves around profiling individuals we interact with in the city, especially those who are already part of our social circles. I would love to share more, but we’re still assembling a strong introductory issue. Does anybody have any ideas for the first edition of our project?

I am excited to be working on building a platform with Shivani. With her expertise in the animal rights/activism world and my understanding of the fashion scape, we will be unstoppable. Our two worlds are different, and that’s what our project is trying to bridge. We want to interview individuals who stand out to us. Shivani and I always have an event to attend, so it’s perfect for the amount of work we promised our supervisor.

We are constantly ruminating over the questions, “Why us?” and “What stories do we have to tell?” We will toss and turn on it tonight, and tomorrow I will fill out the form to get credit for our project. We have the support of a few professors, and honestly, this new chapter feels right. I not only feel my writing is getting strong because of this newsletter, but I also feel that the project is an opportunity to show what I have learned while writing TJL.

Yes, I am still going to write TJL. I was already asked by the professor who is overseeing our independent study whether or not I am continuing TJL We picked the right person. He seemed just as interested as we are about working on the product. Of course, with any reputable news product comes the semantics of deciding how to get our work out there. I have never truly used Substack, but from what I have gathered, it seems the best for growing an audience. Maybe the experience will teach me about how to get TJL out there.

For now, Shivani and I have a lot of planning to do. The professor supervising our independent study asked how to review other models of the product we were making. Turns out there are many enjoyable examples for us to look at. We discussed everything from basic sit-down interviews to Howard Stern. We are in an exciting period of work, and I am allowing the divine to guide our next steps. As Doris Day once said, “Whatever will be, will be.”
