I’m writing this newsletter as I wait for my class on Urban Homelessness to begin. I set up shop in the University Center’s cafeteria. Joining me is Jane Child’s Don’t Wanna Fall in Love and a Ryl Co. peach tea.

I attended Blake Eskin’s Journalism and the Machine class yesterday with a dog. Shivani is fostering a nine-year-old chihuahua whom we have dubbed La Chapa. She is named after El Chapo, Shivani’s previous foster. La Chapa is a calm canine. Unlike her predecessor, she doesn’t pee on everything she sees. She does shake, and that’s acceptable. Life is a big ball of anxiety for all of us sometimes.

We brought the La Chapa class for the fun of it. Blake Eskin seemed cool with it. Luckily, La Chapa was well-behaved and only whined a little bit. Blake asked us to bring her up to the camera for our guest speaker to see. We did not get to see the speaker’s sleepy cat.

Shivani and I want to start writing about navigating relationships in the city, and we can’t decide who we want to go first. This would be included in Cigs and the City. Do you know anybody that might be interested? Asking for your friend, Tyler.

I am going home to Iowa March 19th-23rd. I know it’s time to go home when I start craving my hometown’s cuisine, which is mostly greasy fast food. My mom and I are planning to go to the movies to see Hoppers. I haven’t been this excited to see an animated feature since Inside Out 2.

One of the intriguing things happening in Iowa right now is all of the political elections. I have received calls from all over the political spectrum. My official address is in Iowa, so I can’t wait to review the election results later on.

Let’s see how it pans out,

TJL
