I am back out on the NYC dating scene as of today. This evening I went on a date at Strand bookstore. It was impromptu and fleeting, but the overall experience was a lot of fun. We walked around the bookstore for an hour, loitering and waiting for the store to close early because of the blizzard. The store was mostly empty except for two people weaving their way through book displays. To me, there was no better way to spend my Sunday evening than with someone I find fascinating.
We checked out all of the sections the store had to offer. The store boasted bestsellers, biographies, history, nonfiction, and much more. We took turns picking out the books that piqued our interest the most. Did you know there is an entire book dedicated to viking poetry?
We sailed around all three levels before deciding to part ways. I purchased two books: one about the history of art consumption (yes, really) and another about the “Age of Magical Overthinking.” I am excited for both.
It’s been so long since I’ve been on a date that I actually felt a little nervous beforehand. You talk so much on the apps that you forgot how emotional and raw meeting someone face-to-face is. The moment we shared together was adorable and picturesque. Snow blanketed the streets as I waited for my date to show up. While I was trying to find a book to look through before they showed up, I picked up one on romance.
Hopefully we will meet again,
TJL
